For quite some time patients and community members have asked for a family medicine physician at Adelante Wickenburg and now they have one! Dr. Steve Baum joins us as a much-needed resource to our Wickenburg health facility. His presence is a response to the long-term request of many of our patients and will help minimize the cost for patients so that they have an alternative to going to the local hospital or travel to different sites that are further away for primary and preventative care. Currently, there are only about 3-4 primary care offices in Wickenburg, including Adelante.
“Many of the patients we saw during our last COVID vaccine event stated that they loved our staff and faculty but were looking to establish with an MD for primary care,” says Adelante Wickenburg Practice Administrator Arely Mazak.
Dr. Steve Baum is trained to meet the diverse health needs of all our patients including children and families. He is available at Adelante Wickenburg Wednesdays and Thursdays and at Adelante Surprise on all other weekdays. Wickenburg is located a little over 50 miles northwest of Phoenix with a population of around 8,000. It’s a small town with a strong ranching and farming history that values community.
Adelante’s values and mission-driven goals of improving the quality and health of Arizonans is why it is committed to investing into the many communities and people it serves. Adelante Healthcare is one of the only places in Wickenburg that provides full comprehensive and preventative health care services to its patients. Adelante services between 450-520 patients in the community every month and is expected to serve up to an additional 200 more now that Dr. Baum has arrived.
Dr Baum is a board-certified family medicine physician, MD. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he completed his medical education at The Ohio State University. During his residency years in Utah, he received broad spectrum & procedural training treating patients of all ages in a variety of clinical settings. His special interests include Sports Medicine and Clinical Procedures.
Not only is he able to provide primary and preventative care, but Dr. Baum is also able to perform various in- office procedures and care such as general women’s care, splints for simple fractures and sprains, joint aspirations and injections, cryotherapy, skin biopsies, suture removal, and incision and drainage of abscesses among other things.
Since his arrival Mazack has said that patients are happy to hear about the new doctor on site. One patient event commented about how great Dr. Baum was and that he would be back to see him.
Adelante is also very excited to answer the requests of its patients and thanks Dr. Baum for his dedication to providing impeccable service and quality care to his patients. We are happy to continue serving our patients by providing an easier access to preventative and primary care and look forward to continuing to add new resources to better service our patients.
